Why the Future Unfolds release date moved
Publishing updates do not always feel exciting, especially when they involve the word delay. So, I want to talk with you about what changed for Future Unfolds release date, why it moved, and why I actually feel grateful for this one.
How the delay makes Future Unfolds a better book
You may have already seen the notice from Amazon that Future Unfolds slid to a new release date, September 1st, 2026. After the advanced review copies went out, Leanne and I read them with the same intensity some of you bring to your favorite scenes. We caught more typos and minor glitches than either of us felt comfortable sending into the world. The extra time lets us fix those issues and deliver a book that respects your investment, your time, and the world we have built together across the Time Forward universe.

What’s coming first: Future’s Dark Past paperback
There is good news in the middle of this. The paperback edition of Future’s Dark Past lands July 9th, which means you (or someone you hand a copy to – hint, hint) can still start at the beginning of the Time Forward timeline in a fresh format before Future Unfolds arrives. Soon after that, the publisher will roll out a marketing campaign that includes an advertisement with “It’s Storytime With Wil Wheaton.” That show reaches close to two million people, which feels both surreal and deeply hopeful for a story that started at my kitchen table.
If you stuck with this trilogy through date changes and shifting timelines in the real world, you already practice the kind of stubborn hope I write about on the page. I do not take that lightly. Your patience and support helped keep this project moving when it would have felt easier to let it stall. Book three already stands finished and waiting in the wings, so when Future Unfolds reaches you this fall, you will not look at another long gap and wonder if the final story will ever find its way home. I believe the conclusion to the trilogy, Future Impact, will land within a year of book two.
As the calendar moves toward July and September, I would love to hear how you first found Futures Dark Past, and what you hope Future Unfolds answers for you when you step back onto the Time Forward platform.
Again, thank you for your time, patience, and support.
